Exploring hyperlocal news and information in augmented reality
HypARlocal is a project for Talk About Local, a business that trains and supports people producing hyperlocal websites.
We explored various ways of using augmented reality to help people discover local news stories and other information such as planning applications.
Apollo is a GeoRSS feed aggregator that we built which pulls together content from various local websites and serves it to the Layar augmented reality platform.
We also built on an existing WordPress plugin to create Geolocation Plus, which people can use to add geographical information to their blog posts. Apollo and other apps can use data served by this plugin to collect geotagged content.
